How do I know I have Eternal Life?  That I will go to Heaven?

To "assure" you of anything - means to "remove all doubt."

To remove doubt about anything, we have to focus on the "statement of truth" in question.  Take gravity for example. If you drop a ball from your hand there is no doubt it will fall to the ground.  Is there any doubt?  Do you simply accept it or put it to the test?  Once you drop a ball doubt is removed.  Gravity will make it fall.

A little more difficult example: I bought a truck.  The salesman said it had a balance of 18 months or up to 36,000 miles left on the warranty.  That was a statement or principle.  To feel assurance that I am safe and will get malfunctions repaired free, I have to believe that statement.

I had heard of GMC and had been told by others that GMC was good at their word; but, I still had a few doubts, fear of the "loop-holes.  Ultimately the testimonies of others and my own personal test - taking my truck to them was the best way to remove doubt.

I remember the first time I took my truck in to the service department, I still braced myself, being ready to hear some reason I was not going to be covered.

I had bought it 'used' and even though I had past experience to tell me warranties worked, I would not have been surprised if the service manager had told me, "Sorry, electrical problems don't apply to second owners."

My assurance that I was not going to have to worry for the first 36,000 grew enormously as I was taken care of and not even questioned.  Will I ever have another doubt?  I am sure I will, but I will reject it by reminding myself I have a copy of the warrantee and it states I am covered, bumper-to-bumper, except for wear-and-tare.

How does that assure us we have eternal life?  Lets start with a couple statements about your salvation.  John 3:16 & 1 John 5:11-12  Those are 2 Spiritual Promises, or Spiritual Warrantees for our assurance of eternal life.

Our assurance comes as we pick up His Book and read the guarantees.

As we drive this NewLife we have been given by God and experience His Service Plan (HSP), you begin to set back and feel very assured.  Jesus promised "I am with you now and forever, even to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:20

I have quoted the last portion of John 3:16 many time to destroy the doubt that would try to worry me.  I quote, "I am one of the 'who-so-evers' and God's word says 'whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) shall not perish but have eternal life!"

One of the next biggest worries is: "You don't think you are saved and your sins forgiven just by believing and receiving Christ? Surely that is not enough!"  Then I read, 1 John 5:11-12

Your only hope of successfully resisting any worry is to resort to God's word. What does God say about the matter?  That is the important thing for you to know.  What does the Law/your warrantee say?  See ChristianAdvocates.com

On the basis of God's written Word —you can be convinced you have the Lord Jesus Christ, and with Him comes eternal life. 1 John 5:12 He that has the Son has Life.  You can thus relieve the worry in this first test of your faith.  Worries may reoccur, but now you can meet it with the Guarantee of God's Word.

If the Word says it, it is true.  Hey, did you know God says He places His Word above His own Name?  Check it out, Psalm 138:2!
